Throughport Retraction Mechanism – RTM

The  Global Combustion Throughport Retraction Mechanism provides secure mounting and adjustment for any burner from Global Combustion Watercooled Throughport burner range.  Uniquely this mechanism mounts from the furnace steelwork, raises and lowers the burner into the furnace port.   This retraction mechanism designed to operate in the hot dusty environment for long periods with minimum maintenance.

Retracting the burners from the furnace when not firing minimises the need for frequent nozzle cleaning, ensuring repeatable firing for long periods which results in higher glass quality and improved thermal efficiency.

These Retraction Mechanisms are supplied mounting one, two, three or four burners as required

A single pneumatic cylinder is used to operate the mechanism and is designed for a long low maintenance life, and ensures perfect alignment without the need for adjustment during operation.  The mechanism is fitted with atomising air and fuel oil safety shut-off valves for each burner, that can only allow flow when the burner is raised to the correct firing position.  The mechanism mounting allows adjustment of angular, horizontal and vertical position.

A pneumatic air filter/lubricated, speed control and spool valve for control of retraction are provided.  All mechanisms are fitted with limit switches to detect raised and lowered positions.

Global Combustion Systems can also provide auxiliary control equipment, including the fuel gas control system, and full supervision and commissioning services.
